In another installment of what was to become a new Bay Area tradition, more fire, more amazing local artists, and double the sold-out performances celebrated the Crucible’s seventh anniversary with Weill’s The Seven Deadly Sins. This time we chose to present the opera on an 80 foot long catwalk – fashion show style – the audience, eager witnesses to Anna’s inevitable, yet all too entertaining downfall became the well-lit backdrop to another spectacular show filled with flame-throwers, spun glass, red-hot iron and Weill’s deeply moving score played by the Oakland Symphony and sung by San Francisco Opera’s own Catherine Cook.
